Warriors for God: Pro-Life Truth Shines in the Heart of Washington

A pro-life rally plus a very liberal city usually equals a very contentious event. However, TFP volunteers found a very different scenario in Washington, D.C.

As part of a two-week pro-life tour sponsored by TFP Student Action, 17 young volunteers spent two days defending the right to life in Washington, D.C., on the National Mall situated between the Washington Monument and the White House.

Pro-Life Joy

Pro-life support was overwhelming as pedestrians expressed joy at seeing the TFP campaign.

When TFP volunteer, Thomas, asked one lady, “Are you pro-life?” she motioned to her five young children with a smile.

Another young mother said, “I have sixteen kids. I am the most pro-life woman in this city.”

A proud father said, “I have seven kids. I am with you.”

A grandfather with 11 grandchildren encouraged the TFP volunteers. “We are 100 percent; no 1000 percent pro-life!”

A black street vendor was so excited to share the intersection with the campaign that he helped with several debates. “They are just a bunch of baby killers,” he said bluntly. When one purple-haired leftist refused a flyer with a vulgar gesture, he scoffed. “Yeah, she wasn’t going to take that flyer. You can see from a mile away that she’s bad.”

International Support

Tourists from all over the world walked past. Italians, Serbians, French, Ukrainians, Africans, Indians, Koreans, Argentines, Irish, Germans, Norwegians, Peruvians, Swedes, Danes, Mexicans, Moroccans, Cameroons, Ecuadorians, Columbians, and Portuguese all agreed with the pro-life message.

A group of Irish were extremely encouraged to see the TFP campaign. They explained they were sad with the situation in Ireland because abortion was legalized by a popular referendum. However, they had hope that the pro-life battle in Ireland is not over.

“You are warriors for God”

A pro-life gentleman from Florida said, “You are warriors for God. Warriors for the unborn! So my hat goes off to all of you.” He added that Planned Parenthood should be held accountable for what they have done. “They have lied to the people about ‘women’s rights,’” he said. “Women are not the owners of their own bodies; God is. God owns the body of man and woman.”

“We have two kingdoms going on in this world. The kingdom of [the devil] and the kingdom of God, and that is the spiritual warfare that we are in.”

How Abortion Abvocates Respond

Leftists preach “love” but they seem unable to hide the disorder within their souls. For example, abortion advocates who saw the TFP campaign said the following:

  • “You are a man, you don’t have rights.”
  • “I want to kill you!”
  • “Abortion is murder, but I can do whatever I want.”
  • “I adore Satan.”

Rammed by a Bike

A man dressed as a woman on a bike engaged two TFP volunteers in debate about abortion, which quickly turned to transgenderism and the existence of God.

When the man questioned the existence of God, a 15-year-old pro-life volunteer asked him, “If God doesn’t exist, what is your purpose in life? Why do you exist?”

The question stunned him. He could not answer. And his initial shock turned to rage.

“Don’t get me angry or I will fight you!” he shouted.
“Are you threatening me?” asked TFP volunteer, Mr. Remington Huffaker.
“No, but I wouldn’t want your glasses to break.”

At this, the man lunged at Remington and rode away. Mr. Remington thought the threat was over and turned his back to continue talking with other people.

However, the leftist turned his bike around and tried to ram into Mr. Remington’s back who jumped out of the way at the last moment, but the handlebars hit him and ripped his cape off.

Hit with Soda

In another case, a driver threw her lunch and soda at TFP volunteers on the sidewalk. A lunch bag hit TFP volunteer, Mr. Seppe Van Loo, in the face. A wave of soda followed splashing both volunteers.

A police cruiser was three cars behind and quickly stopped to investigate.

The police officers who responded were very helpful. They copied the the license plate number of the car that had thrown the food and drink and said they would pursue the aggressor.

When a TFP member offered a Saint Michael medal to one of the police officers, he graciously accepted, taking out one of his own to show.

On Campaign 24/7

When traveling, TFP members say they are “on campaign 24/7” because they meet people everywhere and have suprising conversations in the most unexpected places.

When the youngest member of the TFP caravan went to a CVS, the cashier asked him why he was in a coat and tie. He explained the pro-life tour. The cashier said, “I had two abortions, and I regret it, but I have three kids now.”

When she found out he was Catholic, she responded, “Great, I am Catholic too. I converted from Islam.”

The Truth Resonates in Souls

Despite being in a city known for its liberalism, the TFP Student Action pro-life tour in Washington, D.C. proved that the truth about life still resonates within souls. From enthusiastic families and supportive passersby to tourists from around the world, the response was positive.

At the same time, the campaign also revealed the stark contrast between the joy of those who defend God’s law and the anger of those who reject it.

Through it all, the young TFP volunteers remained courageous, respectful, and unwavering. Their peaceful witness, grounded in the Catholic Faith, brought light to a city often shrouded in moral confusion. As one supporter put it so clearly: “You are warriors for God.” And it is precisely this spirit that gives hope for the future of the pro-life cause everywhere.
