‘Return to Order,’ A Timely Book Now Reaches Italy

News Release

Verona, Italy, Jan. 5, 2024 -
In the aftermath of the COVID crisis, massive civil unrest and economic disruption, Italians are looking for guidance beyond securing material prosperity. It must involve turning to a moral compass to return Italy to order.

The well-known Italian Catholic publishing house Fede & Cultura of Verona is addressing that need by releasing the book with the title Ritorno All’Ordine: Da Un’ Economia Frenetica A Una Società Cristiana Organica. This fourth foreign translation joins editions in Spanish, Portuguese and German. It will be available in bookstores in Italy on January 5, 2024.

Originally published by the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) in 2013, the English edition, Return to Order: From a Frenzied Economy to an Organic Christian Society—Where We’ve Been, How We Got Here, and Where We Need To Go, has spread far and wide with more than 375,000 copies in circulation.

Written by TFP Vice President John Horvat II, this 381-page ground-breaking book defines the problems that afflict the West and outlines the means to turn away from the “frenetic intemperance” at the root of the present economic troubles.

The book was the culmination of twenty years of research and reflection that started in 1986, when Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira, founder of the Brazilian TFP, invited a few American TFP members to study modern socio-economic problems and the principles that informed medieval Christian economy.

“I think Return to Order is more timely than ever,” said John Horvat in an interview. “Too many people rely on trendy economic theories and shortcuts to guide them. This book has recourse to perennial truths, valid for all times and places. I am thrilled to see it published in Italy.”

Return to Order has won eleven awards and much acclaim. It is also available in e-book, audiobook, soft-cover and hard-cover formats. Overall, nearly 400,000 copies are now in circulation.

Drawing on the book’s principles, Mr. Horvat has written hundreds of op-eds published in major media and sites. His website reaches hundreds of thousands of subscribers and readers. He has also given over seven hundred radio and television interviews. The book was sold at hundreds of events, speeches and talks.
