Standing Against Transgenderism at Milwaukee School of Engineering

It takes courage to stand up for truth on a liberal college campus. But thanks be to God, a new generation of faithful young Catholics is rising to the challenge—boldly fighting the culture war in defense of the family.

A Bold Stand for Truth on Campus

On April 25, members of TFP Student Action visited the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) to expose the falsehoods of transgender ideology. The visit was part of a week-long tour across the Midwest aimed at defending the innocence of children.

The campaign began with a public march from downtown Milwaukee to the MSOE campus. Along the way, TFP volunteers sang patriotic and Catholic hymns—including “God Bless America” and “Hail, Holy Queen Enthroned Above”—accompanied by the stirring sound of bagpipes, drums, and trumpet.

At each street corner, passersby received copies of a flyer titled “10 Reasons Why Transgenderism Is the Family’s Worst Enemy.” Signs encouraged drivers to “Honk to Protect Children from LGBT Grooming,” and the response was overwhelming—a chorus of supportive honks echoed down the streets.

Truth Meets Resistance

Upon arriving at the MSOE Campus Center, the team continued distributing flyers and engaging in peaceful conversation. Before long, a group of pro-LGBT students formed a counter-protest, waving pride flags and banners from the Democratic Socialists of America. Despite their hostility, many students showed genuine interest in TFP’s message—and some even offered words of encouragement.

During one exchange, a student approached a TFP member to ask questions. When a member of his fraternity hurled an insult at us, the student turned and rebuked him: “Hey! What are you doing? You need to speak civilly if you want to make a point. Don’t insult them.” The friend then apologized.

Later, a trans-identifying individual challenged a student standing with the TFP, asking, “Are you really standing with these people?” The student calmly replied, “There are a lot more people on this campus who support [TFP] than you think—they’re just afraid of the backlash from the Left.”

Debating Liberals

TFP volunteer Ross Van Deventer also engaged in a tense debate with a leftist professor about gender ideology. When confronted with facts, the professor reluctantly admitted that such ideology “might” be harmful to children. However, when asked if he agreed that children should not be groomed, he avoided the issue, saying, “Grooming is a loaded term.”

One MSOE staff member tore up a TFP flyer and joined the counter-protesters.

“Why does your [TFP] standard look like a battle flag?” asked one liberal activist.

“Because we are battling to protect the innocence of children,” a TFP member replied. “And we don’t hide it.”

Hostility and Physical Assault

As the campaign concluded and the volunteers prepared to leave, the full fury of the pro-LGBT crowd erupted in blasphemies and obscenities. One agitator physically attacked Rafael, trying to steal his box of flyers. His brother Miguel was also assaulted. Police quickly intervened and took down the assailant’s information.

TFP volunteers made their way back to their vehicle singing “We Want God” in unison. The pro-LGBT crowd hurled vulgar insults in response.

“We must be doing something right if the devil is this angry!” said one smiling TFP volunteer, noting the clear contrast between those who seek God and those who reject Him. His joy didn’t go unnoticed—angry protesters shouted back, “Stop smiling!”

“Get off our campus! We hate you!” they screamed, kicking and spitting on the TFP vehicle. In response, the volunteers raised their voices with the Catholic battle cry: “Viva Cristo Rey!”—Long live Christ the King!—as they drove off to pray before the King of kings in a nearby Catholic church.
