Pro-Life Tour against Amendment 4 in Florida Gets Results
For seven days, 18 pro-life volunteers with TFP Student Action campaigned against the radical pro-abortion Amendment 4 throughout the state of Florida. From Miami to St. Augustine they spread the message: “Abortion is a sin: vote no on 4.”
What were the results of the pro-life tour? Will Florida uphold the right to life?
Extreme Amendment
If passed, Amendment 4 would be the most radical abortion bill in the United States. It essentially removes all restrictions on abortion.
Its crafty wording is purposely confusing. At first glance, it may seem to uphold the status quo but its ambiguous language opens the door to unrestricted abortion.

TFP Student Action members also held pro-life crusades at Florida International University (FIU), the University of South Florida (USF), the University of Central Florida (UCF), and the University of Florida (UF).
All in seven days!
Patroness of the Pro-Life Cause
The TFP tour concluded in St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest city in the United States. In the city is the shrine to Our Lady of La Leche, patroness of expectant mothers and the chosen patroness of this particular TFP tour. Thus, she is well connected to the pro-life cause.
Marked at the shrine is the location where the first Mass was celebrated in what is now the United States. Thus, from that location the Catholic faith spread to the rest of the country.
After praying a rosary in front of Our Lady of La Leche, TFP volunteers were prepared for the next campaign.
Viva Cristo Rey!
The pro-life crusaders entered the city gates of St. Augustine for a type of lighting campaign with 18 young men marching through the center of St. George Street passing out flyers against Amendment 4 and playing bagpipes.
The results were electrifying.
Thousands gawked and made way for impromptu march.
The public reacted in varying ways – clapping and cheering.
But one woman read the flyer and said, “No!! Why are you handing these out? Stop!” Her outburst only encouraged more people to take the pro-life handout.
One young man saw the TFP members and cried out, “Viva Cristo Rey!”
TFP volunteers responded, “Viva!”
Abundant Pro-Life Support
At the end of St. George Street, the TFP volunteers raised their standard and unfurled their banner in front of St. Augustine Cathedral. The banner was clear; “Abortion is a sin: vote no on 4!” Immediately, many approached to express their support.
Because of early voting, many Floridians said: “I just voted no on 4.”
Just down the road, a group of local Catholics was praying a public rosary against Amendment 4. What seemed like a coincidence was really a providential meeting. We joined forces. One of the prayer warriors said, “This is one of the most the encouraging things I have seen all year.”
A doctor and leader of the Catholic Medical Association also joined in her doctor’s lab coat. She was extremely happy to the join the TFP campaign.
The public reacted with positive comments: “It’s really wonderful to see young men like you standing up for life. We need more of this.” And “We can’t vote because we are Canadian but we completely support what you are doing.”
Pro-Abortion Anger
No matter what the leftist media say, the abortion movement is not able to sway public opinion. This reality was especially clear in St. Augustine.
When an angry feminist screamed vulgarities at TFP volunteers, several locals said to her, “Leave them alone. Stop being so rude.”
When another liberal got out of his car to scream insults at TFP members, a woman in the car next to his shouted, “How dare you promote abortion; it kills children. Get back in your car!” The other drivers watching the interaction began honking in support of the campaign, which discouraged the angry leftist.
Pray and Fight for a Pro-Life Victory
Throughout the TFP tour, support was tremendous. If the reactions to the TFP campaigns reflect the consensus, there is hope for Florida.
A pro-life victory in Florida will be a great blow against the culture of death. Let us ask God, through the maternal intercession of Our Lady of La Leche, to defeat the pro-abortion movement in America.
