Pennsylvania Pro-Lifers March Against Abortion at State Capitol

Roe v. Wade’s demise is worthy of celebration. However, pro-life Americans are not satisfied with partial victories, and they focus on the final goal: To make the sin of abortion unthinkable. This determined spirit was visible at Pennsylvania’s most recent March for Life, held on September 19, 2022, at the State Capitol building in Harrisburg.

Thousands attended, including throngs of students who highlighted the youthful dynamism of the pro-life movement. Various state representatives and other influential leaders addressed the gathering.

Volunteers from the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP) joined the march with its marching band. “God Bless America” and “America the Beautiful” echoed down State Street, adding an upbeat and patriotic tone to the event. The staff and students of Saint Louis de Montfort Academy reinforced the ranks of the band while TFP members shared “10 Reasons to Protect the Unborn” leaflets with the public.

Abortion vs. a plan of God

The backbone of the pro-life movement is Catholic. Every human life represents a marvelous plan of God, which abortion destroys. As the abortion debate escalates, two opposing worldviews come into stark focus. Those who love God defend the unborn, while those who promote the killing of the innocent mock Him.

The presence of young Catholic priests and other religious was noteworthy. Many pro-lifers held crucifixes and banners with images of Mary as they made pious acts of reparation and prayed for the end of abortion.

As the march ended, the TFP band played a grand finale from the steps of the capitol building. The rousing rendition of “God Bless America” and “The Star Spangled Banner” received warm applause.

May God Convert America

Pro-lifers will continue the noble fight for the unborn and ward off temptations of discouragement. The fight to stop abortion at the state level has intensified. But beyond politics and elections cycles, the long-term success of the battle for the unborn depends greatly on the restoration of Catholic culture.

With Divine assistance, the truth will prevail over the Culture of Death. Let us beseech God and the Blessed Virgin Mary for the strength necessary to overcome evil and the unmerited grace to witness the complete conversion of our beloved nation.
