TFP Pro-Life Caravan Braves Baltimore

Topics:

Why did TFP volunteers receive death threats in downtown Baltimore? Because they peacefully stood up for the right to life and opposed the sin of abortion.

On July 17, 2024, fifteen TFP Student Action volunteers braved one of America’s most crime-scarred cities as part of a pro-life tour. They received overwhelming support as well as a smattering of abuse.

Immediate Pro-Life Support

The first campaign of the day was on Pratt Street in the heart of the Baltimore harbor. With heavy foot and car traffic, the location was ideal.

As TFP volunteers walked to the intersection, a man saw one of the signs, “Honk against abortion,” and responded with “Beep! Beep! I love them kids. God bless you.”

One man on a scooter apologized, saying, “This thing doesn’t have a horn.”

TFP volunteers gave out many 10 Reasons to Protect the Unborn flyers.

Pro-Life Policeman

Someone called the police complaining about the campaign. After answering that call, a police officer arrived to check what was happening. Finding the campaign in full swing, he expressed his approval and encouraged the effort to continue. “I support you 100 percent,” he said.

TFP volunteer Matthew Shibler offered the policeman a St. Michael medal. “Don’t worry,” he responded. “I already have one in my wallet. My grandmother gave it to me the day I entered the [police] academy.”

Multiple Threats

The culture of death breeds a criminal, savage, and animalized mentality. For instance, minutes after the campaign started, a passerby made a gun gesture with his fingers and screamed, “I am going to shoot you.”

Another pro-abortion individual said, “You should have been assassinated with Trump.”

“You are small-brained white men,” said another liberal. “I will find out where you live, and I will get you … I will hunt you down, and if I hurt you, I will only get 6 to 9 months in prison.” He continued, “I spent time in prison for hurting white people. It was the most fulfilling time of my life.”

Several other pro-abortion advocates responded in violent ways.

One woman tried to grab a TFP member’s video camera.

“Abortion saves lives!” screamed a feminist.

Spiritual Weapon vs. Planned Parenthood

The pro-life warriors soon moved on to another battlefield: Baltimore’s Planned Parenthood on Howard Street. At this location, using their most powerful weapon, TFP volunteers pulled out their rosaries and prayed for the end of abortion.

The battle for souls and the future of America is predominantly a spiritual one between good and evil, light and darkness, the right to life, and abortion on demand. Souls cut off from the grace of God are receptive to the lies of the devil that lust and abortion are merely a “choice.”

Several volunteers were understandably tired after standing in the blazing sun for hours. A passerby noticed and called out to them from across the street, “You got to do it [pray the rosary] with more oomph! It sounds like you’re bored.”

Immediately, the volume of the rosary grew much louder. “That’s more like it!” the man said.

After the rosary, TFP volunteers went inside the pro-life center next to Planned Parenthood to thank them. This center saves countless lives. The pro-life workers were grateful for the visit.

The final campaign of the day was in Towson, Maryland. As TFP volunteers ended the campaign and began to pray, a pro-abortion supporter shrieked expletives and blasphemies from his car. It was as if a demon was let loose from this man’s tongue.

With every Hail Mary, he became louder and more belligerent. However, 15 young voices and many honks drowned him out.

Honorable Service

Earlier in the day, a young man said, “You are all doing an honorable service.” He then shook every volunteer’s hand.

What he said is true. Standing up for innocent life is an honorable deed. For the 15 young men on tour, it is an honor, a duty, and a privilege to defend God’s law and stand up for the voiceless.
