Day 1:
July 17, 2017
While many travel to popular vacation spots, TFP Student Action volunteers are also on the road this summer. Their trip is not for pleasure but for a much higher cause: The future of the family and the end of the Culture of Death.
On July 17, a team of twenty-two volunteers kicked off a 10-day tour for the unborn. Their first stop: Hunt Valley Mall in Maryland.
Even though it was raining, everyone was so eager to begin that we ignored it and started anyway. These young TFP volunteers are bubbling with enthusiasm. With bagpipes, pro-life banners and "honk for the unborn" signs, the display is a sight to remember. The two large banners attract lots of attention: "Pray the Rosary to End Abortion" and "Planned Parenthood butchers and sells unborn babies. May God convert America."
"I love it," said a burly police officer who parked his squad car and walked over. "Someone called to complain about your graphic signs. The driver who called actually made an illegal call from his car... Yeah, the smiley face on your sign is really offending me," he said with a sarcastic chuckle. He was talking about the "Smile: You survived abortion" poster. "Everything is good," the officer said. "I agree with you. Keep it up!"
TFP signs and banners don't have images on them -- only text. But some pro-abortion advocates feel offended by the truth so much that they call the police when they see them. Yet when Planned Parenthood routinely dismembers living, innocent and defenseless babies on a massive scale, and sells aborted baby parts, the same "offended" ones pretend that all is well. Can a culture that accepts such a contradiction be more twisted and in urgent need of conversion?
Tomorrow, TFP volunteers will campaign for the unborn in Washington, D.C. where we hope to meet more people face-to-face on the street and give out fliers titled "10 Reasons to Protect the Unborn."
Please pray for us as we travel from city to city peacefully promoting moral values and fighting the lies of the Culture of Death.
Along the way, many generous souls have stepped forward to help us. We are most grateful to them for their support.
God bless you.
