TFP Challenges Gender Ideology at Loyola and Northwestern University

My name is Nathan, and on April 24, a vanload of volunteers and I from the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP) campaigned to protect children’s innocence at Northwestern University and Loyola University Chicago.

Our first stop was Northwestern University. There, we handed out flyers titled “10 Reasons Why Transgenderism Is the Family’s Worst Enemy” and displayed banners reading “Protect Children’s Innocence From the Ravages of LGBT Ideology.” A similar campaign last year was so impactful that liberals on campus set up a “safe space” where leftist students could “recover” from the TFP campaign.

This time, however, many students were supportive and unafraid to express it publicly.

“Oh wow, you’re here! That’s great!” said one student. “I’m a freshman, and I heard the bagpipes and wanted to come see you. I watch your videos!”

While we were praying the Rosary, a young woman walked up, made the Sign of the Cross, and gave us a thumbs-up in support.

However, a Northwestern University faculty member insisted that the TFP campaign for moral values made students feel “unsafe.” He called the police on us. But when the police arrived and saw how peaceful and prayerful the demonstration was, they simply said, “Stay safe,” and left.

Rosary of Reparation at Loyola University

Just before lunchtime, we prayed at Madonna della Strada Chapel at Loyola University Chicago, where a student intercepted us. He told us that the Catholic university had hosted an immoral drag show on campus the day before.

A drag show on a Catholic campus? How despicable and contrary to Church teaching. After some deliberation, we decided to hold an impromptu Rosary in reparation for such a horrible event. Little did we know how impactful this “short” Rosary rally would be.

We unfurled our banner and began to pray. But after a few minutes, an angry mob started to form. The vice dean of the university forced us off campus. As we moved to the public sidewalk, I asked her, “You allow a drag show but not the Rosary?” She pretended I didn’t exist.

One student saw the Rosary and said, “I’m Catholic, and I love this! Where can I donate?”

Pro-LGBT Students Blaspheme God

We regrouped at a new location, but a mob of liberals followed. As the Rosary continued, more students arrived holding obscene pro-LGBT signs. Minutes later, about 100 students surrounded us, harassing, screaming, mocking God, and attacking the Rosary.

I had never heard so much profanity in my life. It was a hellish display of anger. The students protesting against the Rosary at Loyola University Chicago—some of whom claimed to be Catholic—acted how you would expect Satanists to act.

Several female students made sexual remarks and gestures. One said, “I am a teacher, and I groom minors!”

Another student tried to rip a sign from my colleague’s hands, damaging it heavily. We chanted “Aggressor!” and her attack failed.

As we sang Ave Maria between decades, the students screamed louder, consumed by anger. The pro-LGBT mob chanted, “Love thy neighbor,” twisting the words of Sacred Scripture. When we pointed out that they weren’t loving us—their neighbors—they grew even more furious, screaming that they hated us.

Jesuit Students Boo Saint Ignatius

Every time we invoked the heavenly aid of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and Our Lady, Virgin Most Pure, they booed in response. They even held up pornographic material, including a book read to children at Drag Queen Story Hours.

After the Rosary, a TFP trumpet player concluded with “Hail, Holy Queen, Enthroned Above.” The pro-LGBT students screamed, “Ahhh! My ears hurt!” while others blocked the bell of the instrument. They mobbed the TFP vehicle, yelling obscenities. But as we drove away, a group of students flagged us down: “God bless you guys!” they said. “Thank you so much for what you did!”

Please pray the Rosary to protect children’s innocence from the ravages of LGBT ideology, and continue praying for the TFP crusade to restore moral values in America.
