Real Men vs. Clowns: Boston's Unforgettable March for the Unborn
When real men face off against leftist clowns, who wins?
On November 1, 2026, hundreds of men descended on Boston for the fifth annual National Men's March to Abolish Abortion and Rally for Personhood. Among them were young TFP Student Action volunteers, who joined Catholic men from across the country in a public witness for the God-given right to life.
The march drew a hostile response. Pro-abortion activists dressed as clowns, while Antifa agitators attempted to drown out the speakers and disrupt the rally. But the men refused to cower. They prayed, marched, and stood their ground. Their message was unmistakable: Men must defend innocent life with courage.
Why Boston?
Boston is at the center of the pro-life battle. In August, Governor Maura Healey, a nominal Catholic and open homosexual, signed into law the “Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act.” This immoral act allows abortion up to the moment of birth and goes into effect on November 8, 2026.
However, Massachusetts pro-life advocates are mobilizing to suspend and repeal the law. The Compassionate Care Coalition announced that it had gathered 97,276 signatures, nearly double the 49,716 required to suspend the law while the repeal referendum proceeds. Final certification by the Secretary of the Commonwealth is pending.
The pro-life battle in Massachusetts is real, and Catholic men are engaged.
The Men’s March
The 3-mile march started at the Allston Planned Parenthood facility and ended at Boston Commons, where participants prayed a rosary of reparation and gave speeches. Bishop Joseph Strickland and Bishop Joseph Coffey participated. Pro-life stalwart Jim Havens, co-founder of the march, coordinated the event.
Along the route, TFP bagpipers and drummers in full regalia boosted morale with stirring patriotic music and hymns in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Leftist Response: Clowns and Antifa
The leftist response was smaller in number than in previous years. In 2024, Antifa and the clowns were able to temporarily impede the march by blocking the street for about 45 minutes while police cleared a path, arresting a dozen troublemakers.
In 2025, about 200 clown-costumed protesters and Antifa activists were present. This year, 77 clowns and about 65 Antifa agitators showed up. They harassed the men along the route by blowing noisy whistles and shouting vulgar insults. Some tried to infiltrate the march, but Boston Police officers kept them at bay.
Why do leftists suppose dressing as clowns is an effective form of counter-protest? Perhaps they hope to ridicule those who defend the unborn and make the abortion debate appear trivial.
But something deeper is at work. God's truth cannot be defeated through honest argument. When truth is difficult to answer, its opponents often resort to sophistry, mockery, distortion, intimidation and violence. The clown costumes seemed to embody this strategy.

Men vs Clowns
When the march arrived at the Boston Common for a series of speeches, the clowns continued their disruptive antics. They screamed obscenities, insults, and made threatening and vulgar gestures. One Antifa activist was arrested.
The contrast was stark. While masked Antifa and the clowns were making fools of themselves, the men were calm, prayerful, and resolute, dressed sharply in coats and ties. Their convictions spoke clearly: Real men defend the innocent. Real men are chivalrous. Real men are champions of purity. And real men lead the fight for truth.
Do Not Flee the Battle
Planned Parenthood director-turned-pro-life activist Abby Johnson gave hope to the crowd.
“We will end abortion in this country,” she emphatically declared. “We will do it because of strong men like you, who are standing up, who are leading their families, who are saying no to this evil in our land.”
Kenneth Murphy, a TFP representative in Boston, spoke. He reminded the men of the importance of public prayer, especially the holy rosary. His words, in the face of opposition, were apt.
“In a city at war with the unborn, at war with childhood innocence, at war with pregnancy centers, and at war with basic biological truth—we should not flee the battlefield, but instead persevere in public prayer and unwavering resolve.”
The Men's March is a bold statement of perseverance. It is a gathering of men who refuse to flee the cultural battlefield but confront it with piety and manly enthusiasm. God's cause is worth fighting for. And when real Catholic men stand up against evil, they remind the world that the fight for truth is far from over.
