Opposing Fr. James Martin’s Errors in Chicago
On September 3 and 4, 2026, TFP Student Action held a peaceful Rosary Rallies of reparation to God as Fr. James Martin, S.J. spoke at Catholic institutions in Chicago. Giving a platform to Fr. Martin serves to advance his agenda to normalize sin.
At Loyola University Chicago
The campaign to restore Catholic morals had hardly begun when students spat at those praying on the public sidewalk outside Loyola University.
About 40 minutes later, in a fit of rage, a man dressed as a woman grabbed the TFP banner and ripped it. A TFP volunteer was able to intercept him and limit the damage to the banner. Yet the aggressor quickly fled the scene to evade the police.
Another student attempted to take the sign of one of the young TFP volunteers. When another young volunteer came to help, the girl reached for his sign and ripped it in half. She also fled.
Old St. Patrick’s Church in Downtown Chicago
The following day, TFP held another peaceful Rosary Rally as Fr. Martin spoke at Old St. Patrick’s Church, a historic Catholic church in downtown Chicago.
Fr. Martin walked past the Rosary rally but was unwilling to “dialogue” or listen to what those present had to say about the confusion he causes within the Church by contradicting Church teaching and Sacred Scripture.
As Fr. Martin was crossing the street, TFP volunteer Evan Olwell addressed him, quoting Galatians 1:
“Neither an angel nor the clergy can change Christ’s teachings! Go and sin no more! Fr. Martin, we are praying for you and for your conversion! Please stop causing grave scandal and confusion among the faithful!”
Many people passing by expressed support. One man said:
“You’ve got my full support!”
Another said:
“Don’t let anybody tell you that you are wrong. Follow the Catholic Faith—Catholic tradition. Don’t get woke!”
Others who were attending Fr. Martin’s talk defended homosexual behavior. A woman who claimed to be Catholic, said:
“I don’t accept that teaching of the Church.”
As the Rosary Rally of reparation came to an end, Evan Olwell said:
“We have confidence in the beautiful words of Our Lord Jesus Christ: that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Holy Catholic Church. Attacks against us will not stop us. Ripping our banner, tearing our signs, and insulting us will not stop us.”
He continued:
“We have absolute certainty in the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ and the impending reign of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart, prophesied at Fatima: ‘Finally, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.’”
