Standing up for Moral Values at Gettysburg College

Today TFP Student Action volunteers went to Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Penn. to promote moral values. The specific mission: Collect signatures on the worldwide Filial Appeal to Pope Francis in defense of marriage and family.

Indifference seemed to reign on campus until those who favor homosexual “marriage” caught wind of the campaign and started heated debates. One man, furious at the presence of the young TFP volunteers, blurted out to Evan Olwell, “I wish you were dead.” Another pro-homosexual "marriage" student also began spitting at various pro-family volunteers.

Liberal: "Don't you realize this is one of the most liberal colleges in the country?"TFP volunteer: "It can't be worse than Berkeley or Brown. We went there."Liberal: "Yeah, you're right."

"God is dead! He never existed," muttered another student. Then he insisted in the same breath that "people evolved from monkeys." When his monkey-to-man assertion was challenged, he finally said: "Well, it's only a theory..."

During the afternoon, however, there were betters results. For example, a male student walked by while TFP member Matthew Miller, 20, was engaged in a debate, “Oh, I’m Catholic! Let me sign that!” He promptly took the clipboard and gladly signed the Filial Petition to the chagrin of the pro-homosexual students standing nearby. Dozens more signed the petition to Pope Francis, including a team of construction workers who pulled over and stopped their vehicle to sign.

After finishing the signature drive effort, TFP volunteer William Gossett remarked, “Some of these students are pretty confused about the marriage issue. It’s scary to think that they are the future of our country! I pray the petition will help sort out this confusion.”

To help students understand the importance of true marriage, TFP Student Action recently launched a new video: 10 Reasons Why You Should Oppose Same-Sex "Marriage."

The petition drive to Pope Francis, which already has over 112,000 signatures, is going viral and will be presented at the Vatican ahead of the October Synod on the family. It is important that those in favor of God's marriage and the perennial and unchanging Catholic doctrine remain strong and encouraged in face of the repeated attacks against the family.

More and more college students are joining this effort. May God bless everyone who believes in moral values and grant them the courage to continue upholding the truth. And to those who have been swept away by the culture of death, may He bring them back to the path of virtue.

Please sign and share the Filial Appeal to Pope Francis for the future of the family with your friends and family.
