Defending God’s Marriage at Franklin and Marshall College

On March 23rd, TFP Student Actions volunteers took a stand at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Penn., to defend traditional marriage just as college students returned to class after spring break.

Their banner put it clearly: “God’s Marriage = One Man + One Woman,” thus reaffirming the perennial truth that God established marriage as the sacred and exclusive union between a man and a woman.

Support Increased as Opposition Grew

From the onset, many expressed their support by honking or waving. One young man, after taking a TFP flyer, 10 Reasons Why Homosexual “Marriage” Is Harmful and Must Be Opposed, said, “I totally agree with you all. Jesus is King.”

Another student honked enthusiastically and yelled from his window, “Great job. Keep doing what you’re doing. I love it.”

However, as TFP volunteers chanted slogans such as “One man, one woman: The way God made it,” hecklers from a nearby building began to shout. Refusing to debate, a liberal student said, “We don’t talk to Nazis,” a cheap insult without intellectual content.

A woman stopped traffic to yell, “Go home because you are making people sad.” This was ironic, as joyful and enthusiastic reactions of those who showed themselves to be in favor of God’s marriage were apparent everywhere, especially with lots of honking cars and trucks. She also falsely equated pleasure with happiness. However, those who follow God are truly the happy ones, for they are neither shackled by sin nor the lies of the devil. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

Coincidentally, a woman behind the stopped car was honking and waving in support of the campaign the whole time the liberal woman complained.

Outrageous Leftist Claims

When pedestrian traffic picked up, the volunteers had the opportunity to pass out more pro-family flyers.

“Marriage is whatever you want it to be, even between a person and his pet,” claimed a liberal student, also affirming that a man can legitimately have 30 wives. The debate did not go well for him, and he resorted to vulgar cursing.

Pride Flags Appear

Pride is one of the deadly sins that define the anti-family movement. A small group of students gathered to heckle. Their signs read “love is love” and “love thy neighbor.” Eventually, a couple more showed up with pride flags, a display of revolt against God’s order.

Unlike the TFP’s logical slogans and literature, the protesters danced to music so faint it was scarcely audible from a speaker. Their music was no match for the three TFP bagpipers who were playing patriotic hymns.

After the pro-LGBT advocates arrived, something interesting happened. The honks from supporting cars grew louder and more frequent.

To the Next Battlefield

Yes, it is possible to stand up to the rainbow revolution.

TFP volunteers wrapped up with a prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the most humble Virgin, who crushes the pride of the serpent. They also implored the help of her most chaste spouse, St. Joseph, their patron in this campaign to defend the traditional family.

With God’s grace, TFP members are planning their next campus crusade for moral values.
