Villanova University Revolts Against Catholic Teaching

Founded by the Augustinian order, Villanova University presents itself as an institution “grounded in the wisdom of the Catholic intellectual tradition.” However, the university recently adopted a pro-transgender policy that contradicts nature, biology, and God.

On October 3, 2022, volunteers of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP) visited the campus outside Philadelphia to oppose the sin of transgenderism. These young Catholic volunteers encountered open hostility on campus toward the truth.

Villanova’s “Gender Inclusive” Guide

What prompted TFP Student Action to visit Villanova University was its new pro-transgender policy, which imposes biologically incorrect pronouns. Time-honored terms such as “ladies and gentlemen” are canceled.

The “Gender Inclusive Practices Guide” requires staff and faculty to be “gender inclusive in our work spaces, laboratories, and classrooms—especially for those who identify within transgender, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, and/or gender questioning communities.” In other words, the binary reality of human nature created by God is under attack.

God Made them Male and Female

During the campaign, TFP volunteers shared copies of Luiz Solimeo’s recent article, Francis’s Responsibility Facing Homosexual Heresy and the Transgender Dictatorship. The leaflet debunks gender ideology falsehood.

Aside from being illogical and scientifically impossible, transgenderism is an act of revolt against God. However, liberal Catholic students on campus place the LGBT agenda of so-called inclusion above the Law of God.

One student insisted: “Just love everyone. That’s all.”
“But true love is never divorced from truth,” a TFP member replied. “It is more charitable to point out the error of somebody’s ways and set them on the right path rather than make them feel comfortable living in error,” he said. “And don’t forget: To admonish the sinner is a spiritual work of mercy.”

Wokeness, Vulgarity, and Immorality

Behind transgenderism is relativism, which denies absolute truth. One student, for example, insisted: “If you want to be an apple, you can. You can do whatever you want.”

Unfortunately, the notion of good vs. evil has eroded at Villanova University. One leftist student affirmed that pedophilia would be “fine.” Another spat at TFP volunteers, shouting, “You should all be dead.”

While TFP volunteers peacefully prayed the rosary, a pro-transgender student stood in front of them and blasphemed God. During the Saint Michael Prayer, another student threw a cup of coffee at them.

One pro-LGBT girl attempted to rip Michael Aguilera’s hat off. Although she missed the hat, her sharp fingernails hit him on the face, leaving a scratch on his forehead. Immediately, TFP volunteers reacted by shouting, “aggressor.” The assault was partially caught on video here.

Faithful Support Despite Opposition

Regardless of the opposition TFP volunteers received, many students strongly supported the TFP crusade for moral values. “Keep it up! I follow you on YouTube,” was a common refrain. “I was just thinking about TFP,” said a student who was delighted to meet TFP volunteers in person.

However, because of the fierce pressure that comes with woke culture, too many students who believe in God remain silent. Simply accepting a pro-family leaflet takes courage. As one student said, “I don’t want to be canceled for being seen with a leaflet.”

The Light of Christ Shall Prevail

As the love of God fades in the hearts of man, so does the light of reason. The acceptance of transgenderism at a Catholic university highlights a profound apostasy from the One True Faith. When society separates itself from God, the source of all wisdom, it loses its ability to understand the highest causes of things in life.

Wisdom is the light that keeps man on the right path that leads to God. Without this light, men fall into darkness and error. Therefore, let us beseech God and His Holy Mother, Mary Seat of Wisdom (Sedes Sapientiae), to keep the light of truth alive in our hearts and minds and keep us on the right path of Our Divine Savior, “the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6).
