Relativism and Truth Clash as TFP Defends the Unborn at Millersville University

Topics:

Once again, TFP Student Action returned to campus to defend the unborn and oppose the culture of death. Although universities are supposed to be places where science, reason, and truth prevail, many students at Millersville University appeared more interested in relativism and emotional slogans than in objective moral truth.

Even before the campaign officially began, liberal students recognized TFP volunteers from previous visits and immediately hurled insults and jeers at them.

Undeterred by the hostility, the familiar battle cry rang out across campus: “Tradition! Family! Property!” With that, the tone was set. TFP Student Action had returned to boldly defend innocent life.

“Who Says I’m Here?”

As the campaign progressed, many debates took place with pro-abortion students.

One of the most common arguments centered on financial hardship. Several students claimed abortion should be allowed if “the mother doesn’t have the financial means to support the child.” This argument, however, collapsed under scrutiny. Financial status does not determine personhood. A poor child is still a child — and every child has a God-given right to life.

To avoid accepting logical arguments, abortion advocates retreated into relativism. Some insisted that every individual creates their own “truth” and morality.

One student took this idea to an absurd extreme. Referring to her own presence in the debate, she declared:

“In your reality, I’m [standing] here. But perhaps that isn't the case for others.”

Such confusion reveals the intellectual crisis afflicting modern universities. When objective truth is abandoned, even the most self-evident truth becomes blurred and distorted.

Enthusiastic Support

Upon seeing the TFP campaign, one young man ran up excitedly to the volunteers and exclaimed:

“Are you for real?! I always see you on YouTube, and now you are here? I can’t believe it!”

He repeatedly thanked the volunteers for standing up for moral values.

Many others also expressed gratitude and encouragement. Their support was a reminder that countless young people are searching for the truth and are inspired by courageous public witness.

Glum Counter-Protest

Near the end of the campaign, two counter-protesters arrived carrying a cardboard sign encouraging students to donate to Planned Parenthood.

One side of the sign read: “Donate to pro-choice causes.” The other declared: “Healthcare: a personal choice, not the government’s.”

Yet the irony was unmistakable. Pro-abortion activists regularly demand that taxpayers fund Planned Parenthood with hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

The two leftist activists refused to engage in meaningful debate. They stood glum and silent while TFP volunteers attempted to reason with them.

Finally, one TFP member asked directly:

“The child in the womb is a human being. You know that, don’t you?”

The protester replied: “Yes, it’s a baby — so what?”

That tragic response exposed the harsh reality and malice of the abortion movement. The issue is no longer whether the unborn child is human. Increasingly, abortion advocates openly admit it, while denying that innocent human life deserves protection.

Every abortion destroys a unique life created by God, along with the vocation God intended for that soul. For that reason, Catholics and all people of goodwill must never remain silent. Now more than ever, we must work to make the sin of abortion unthinkable.
