March 29, 2016: Although Vice-President Joe Biden strongly supports abortion, the Catholic University of Notre Dame announced that it will give him its highest and most prestigious award -- the Laetare Medal -- on May 15, 2016.

You are invited to express your urgent concern by signing TFP Student Action's protest petition, because Mr. Biden's public record goes against the Catholic Church.

For example:

  • Biden supports abortion. As I already mentioned, during a 2008 debate Mr. Biden said: "I strongly support Roe v. Wade." (Source: The New York Times) Mr. Biden also received 100% approval ratings from mega abortion provider Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America. (Source: Vote Smart)
  • Biden supports homosexual "marriage." On national TV, Mr. Biden said: "I am absolutely comfortable with... men marrying men, women marrying women..." (Source: NBC's Meet the Press)
  • Biden supports Obamacare/HHS mandate. As the Little Sisters of the Poor battle at the U.S. Supreme Court for their freedom against the HHS mandate -- Joe Biden's record shows that he supported the government mandate which forces these good nuns and other Catholics and institutions to offer pro-abortion services that violate God's Law and Church teaching.

With such ungodly positions, how can Notre Dame possibly hold up Biden as an example of "outstanding service to the Church and society"?

Remember: In 2012, Bishop Michael Sheridan of Colorado Springs, said that Vice President Biden should NOT present himself to receive Holy Communion.

Earlier this month, Bishop Kevin Rhoades of the Diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend, Indiana, stated:

"My principal concern about this whole matter is scandal. In honoring a 'pro-choice' Catholic who also has supported the redefinition of marriage, which the Church considers harmful to the common good of society, it can give the impression to people, including Catholics in political office, that one can be 'a good Catholic' while also supporting or advocating for positions that contradict our fundamental moral and social principles and teachings."
